A neuropsychological evaluation is comprised of four specific services: an initial consultation appointment following a brief phone screening, the testing session, a feedback session, and a complete neuropsychological report. A thorough record review will also be conducted by Dr. Errera.
Below is a breakdown of each service:
Consultation
A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation involves an initial 30-60 minute clinical interview to discuss reasons for seeking an
evaluation. At this appointment, you and Dr. Errera will review the clinical history form, which provides a detailed background of you or your loved
one’s developmental, educational, employment/vocational, medical, psychiatric, and neurological history. Additional records may be requested depending on presenting concerns, including neuroimaging records, academic records/IEP, medical records etc. This appointment can be conducted either in person or via telehealth, and will conclude with scheduling of the testing session.
Testing Session
Evaluations will be conducted in person on a single, 6 hour day, which includes a 45 minute break for lunch, or divided into two 3 hour testing sessions across multiple days. Together, you and Dr. Errera will determine which schedule best fits your needs. Testing will be comprised of a unique, flexible assessment battery utilizing standardized measures tailored to your individual concerns and will explore various cognitive domains, including attention, learning, memory, language, socioemotional functioning etc. There are no needles, scans, or medical procedures involved! Thinking skills are measured using various paper and pencil or computer based tasks, often presented as puzzles or games.
Feedback Session
A 30-60 minute session, typically scheduled within 1-2 weeks following the final testing session. This appointment will be conducted with you and Dr. Errera, during which time she will review the findings, diagnostic impressions, and discuss treatment recommendations and any pertinent referrals. This is your opportunity to ask as many questions as you’d like regarding the findings! The appointment can take place either in person or via telehealth.
Comprehensive Report
Following the feedback session, and approximately 4 weeks later, you will receive a copy of the finalized neuropsychological report. Please feel free to contact Dr. Errera for any additional questions once you receive this report.
Record Review
Dr. Errera will also spend time reviewing any academic and/or medical records provided to establish a more comprehensive and holistic picture of each person. For children and adolescents, this will include parent and teacher questionnaires.
* please note this is not included in a standard evaluation and can be requested for an additional fee
